The fault in our stars by John Green

“Despite the tumor-shrinking medical miracle that has bought her a few years, Hazel has never been anything but terminal, her final chapter inscribed upon diagnosis. But when a gorgeous plot twist named Augustus Waters suddenly appears at Cancer Kid Support Group, Hazel's story is about to be completely rewritten.

Insightful, bold, irreverent, and raw, The Fault in Our Stars is award-winning author John Green's most ambitious and heartbreaking work yet, brilliantly exploring the funny, thrilling, and tragic business of being alive and in love.”

Date read: I forgot

When the movie gone viral as most people say that the story is very touching and sad at the same time. Where everyone whom watched the movie would cry at the end. I was like “Oh, this’s so cheesy and is love story themed. It is not up my ally.”

As time pass by things started to get into my head and I decided to give it a try by reading the book. There are peoples around the internet say that is best to just read the book as compare to watch the movie. Anyway, I got myself the book.

First off, the feeling I have for the book when I started is easy to read on. For me, there are some part when Hazel are having physiological activities within herself, I have to put myself in her shoes to see she is coming from.

“may I see you again?” he asked. There was an endearing nervousness in his voice. I smiled. “Sure”. “tomorrow?” he asked. “Patience, grasshopper,” I counseled. ‘You don’t want to seem overeager.”----the fault in our stars pg 36

Were she better or you sicker, then the stars would not be so terribly crossed, but it is the nature of stars to cross, and never was Shakespeare more wrong than when he had Cassius note, “The fault, dear Brutus, is not in our stars/ But in ourselves.” Easy enough to say when you’re a roman nobleman, but there is no shortage of fault to be found amid our stars.--- the fault in our stars pg 111

Here are some quote from the book to give you a sneak peek of the story. The story is heavily evolve around a book called An Imperial Affliction by Peter Van Houten. Both of the characters even planned a visit to see the author and asked for the ending of the story that he wrote. It is hard for Hazel to travel around due to her lungs problem. In the midst of planning and getting the permission from Hazel’s doctor something happened to Augustus where his health deteriorated.  Augustus did not reveal to Hazel until almost the end of the story.

As most of the story goes, they both ended up being separated by death. There are this moment where Augustus worry about that he might die someday. He asked someone (forgot who it is) and he received answer as quoted above from page 111.

The quotes were so meaningful and beautiful at the same time. I think basically what it trying to say is that no matter how you are, what you are and where you are, our stars will cross path along the way and is our choices that make the stars to terribly crossed and inseparable.

Although at first I’m skeptical about this novel as I could have guess the story already because it does say aloud that this is a love story and romance. But what make it unique is the buildup of the characters. You get to see the world from their point of view and do things from their perception. It does make people think that when you only have few days to live would you rather waste it or make it useful.  I must say this a brilliant work from the author. Thumbs up. This novel also included some poetic themed to make it feel aesthetic. I think this book could have made into a literature reading book.

Overall, I really do recommend this book to all the people as this is an easy to read and heart felt story. I think this novel would make peoples appreciate the surroundings and the person that they care the most. As this novel have a lot of physiological activities from both of the protagonist. I’m still not sure about the movie yet and haven’t watch it. But definitely give the book a try.
