Zero Day David Baldacci
"War hero John Puller is known
to be the top investigator in the US Army’s CID. So when a family with military
connections is brutally murdered in a remote area of West Virginia, Puller is
called to investigate, and soon suspects the case has wider implications.
As the body count rises he teams up with local homicide detective Samantha Cole. As the web of deceit is revealed, it quickly becomes apparent that there’s much more to this case than they had first thought. It is an investigation where nothing is as it seems, and nothing can be taken at face value."

Synopsis quoted from goodreads
Date read: I forgot
First impression of this book
is that ‘Zero Day? What the hell this book is about? It is about the apocalypse?
Zombie? Infection? ’ After going through the synopsis I realize that this novel
isn’t about the end of the earth or something. It’s about US army stuff and
some police agent story.
I did not get the idea behind
naming of the title. This novel is full of action scenery and are very army
based. I was thinking after finish the novel perhaps this could be made into a
movie or a drama series. This novel contains a lot of information that you have
to understand in order to proceed with the storyline.
When I say understand meaning
there are some terms that are very scientific. Not that you have to do research
on that just so you know what it is. It is a good thing that the storyline also
tells the readers what are the scientific things that they are talking about.
The storyline goes along with the
main character John Puller who I kind of relate him to the role of James Bond.
He has a brother who is in federal military prison due to treason. His brother
is being considered a genius and a crazy person. John’s father is a fighting
legacy in the military where everyone knows about and are respect to.
As depict in the synopsis from
Goodreads, he works closely with a homicide detective Samantha Cole. I believe
that there are something going to happen between both of them. But in the end
both of them still goes on their separate ways if I remember correctly.
I remember there is this one scene where Samantha commented
on how John always fly around United States going to different cities in just
one day. She said that it must be a pleasure to do it. John answered her with
one sentence that impress me “I don’t travel for pleasure, I travel with a
gun.” I mean how he can be so man and so
perfect (obviously fangirling).
In climax of the story I am bombarded with a lot of
chemistry atom equations and reactions. Although I studied in science side in
my high school year and I know clearly that I hate physics and chemistry. The
only thing that I can understand is the word ‘hydrogen’. Yup, that about it. I kind
of worry about this book as it tells us what a nuclear bomb is consists of.
Isn’t this is some kind of confidential information that only the scientist
know about? (I’m just joking)
I did wonder if all the chemical reaction are real.
Hmmmmmm…….. I am impressed that the author did take time to come up with this
idea and carefully craft it to fit the story and not confusing the readers. All in all for me this is considering a heavy
reading because you have to picture yourself being in the situation watching
the character doing all the action as if you are in the movie set except you
have to listen clearly and understand what they are saying in order to get into
the storyline.
In conclusion, If you did like some exciting and fun and
hardcore fighting action novel to pass your day I would recommend it to you.
