Asylum by Madeleine Roux

For sixteen-year-old Dan Crawford, New Hampshire College Prep is more than a summer program—it's a lifeline. An outcast at his high school, Dan is excited to finally make some friends in his last summer before college. But when he arrives at the program, Dan learns that his dorm for the summer used to be a sanatorium, more commonly known as an asylum. And not just any asylum—a last resort for the criminally insane.

As Dan and his new friends, Abby and Jordan, explore the hidden recesses of their creepy summer home, they soon discover it's no coincidence that the three of them ended up here. Because the asylum holds the key to a terrifying past. And there are some secrets that refuse to stay buried."

Date read: I forgot

This book is the first book of the series by the author. In this series it is composed of 3 books of novel namely Asylum, “Sanctum” and Catacomb”

First impression of the book by just looking at the title, I think the story would be all creepy and scary and horror and disgusting and dark and scared the hell out of me. Perhaps is the high expectation that I have which this novel have put me down.

The writing style wasn’t that interesting and it didn’t really detailing the story as it should. There are some mystery atmosphere like the people suddenly being hurt and things are mysteriously placed at Dan’s room. Some people might say that this is a good book but for me the story doesn’t have a gist to keep me wanting to know the truth.

The ending of this book did let me hanging and I did considering buying the sequel. Then I wish not to go through the reading crisis hence I ended up not doing it. Because I have so much expectation of this book I had wish the content could have been interesting as one of my favorite show “Ghost Adventure”.

Overall, I liked the book but not really remembering the detail of the story. This book might suitable for those that are looking into light reading.
