Thirteen reasons why (show)

 After reading the book, I wanted to watch the show. Hence, I have a chance to do it. The conclusion is that I freaking love this. But some others might hate it which may be because the story it is telling.

I even love their trailer. There were 2 seasons of this show.

Season 1

The song in this trailer called Game of Survival by Ruelle.

Season 2

And one song has stuck in my head since then is called lovely by Billie Eilish feat Khalid.

I think this song overall presents the show very well. The mood, the lyrics, and the composition.

This is a story about a girl who took her life and before she did that she recorded 13 reasons why she took her life.

I especially like the intro. I think I heard this one intro from an advertisement for the show when the show first came out. Which it might not be the same as what you actually heard on the show itself and the citing from the book but nonetheless I like this version the most.

 “Hey, its Hannah here. Hannah Baker. Live and in stereo. Don’t adjust whatever device you were listening on. I’m about to tell you the story of my life. Basically why my life ended. If you are listening to these tapes, you are one of the reasons why.”

Hannah Baker – why would a dead girl lie?

Somehow or someway I could understand what Hannah is going through. Peoples might say that they don’t understand why she did what she did. Under some of the circumstances, peoples might also say that it is her own fault that she gets herself into the mess in the first place. I know why she did what she did. Well, for me, I don’t have the courage to do what Hannah did to herself because it is very painful.

Just like she said:” Some of you cared but none of you cared enough.”  People’s words aren’t always forgiving, is one of the lessons that I have learned recently. Sometimes I was wondering if I should just keep my mouth shut and not tell any peoples about anything. I couldn’t blame them for doing what they do because they do care but couldn’t care enough. 

They couldn’t care enough because they just say whatever they want and say what they think. Yeah, it is good to be straight forward and on point at least just a little bit considerate.

I think Hannah left the tape behind not for anything just so the peoples could experience what she experienced before. So the peoples can understand what they are doing might be not a big deal but it does leave scars behind.

Another thing is the actress, she is so beautiful. I find that I so much resonate with her because of how her body looks. From my view, she is not fat just having a big bone structure. I’m sorry if offend anybody. Which this is how I look like every time I look at the full body mirror or my picture is being taken. Nonetheless, she still beautiful the way she is.

Marcus Cole – did you just want to see if the rumors were true?

Somehow I could see the actor of this character star in some comedy movies or drama. The impression of him when I first saw him is a very upbeat and cheerful vibe. I could see that he can make into some movies with a funny but intelligent character. I like his smile too. Look nice.

Back to the drama, yeah, Marcus is being a jerk. At first, I thought Marcus will at least say apologize to Hannah or make it right. Well, he didn’t. I cannot understand, he is a student council president and his family is very well known too. He got everything a person ever need, why the intention. I don’t know. He scared that his father would find out what he had done too, so why start that? There is no one there to provoke him or whatever.

Alex Standall- if you could, would you take it back?

I like this character very much as this character is the closest to Hannah in terms of experience and what he had been through. The worst thing Alex ever did is the list that he made about Hannah. The action is unable to be rewind. Like Hannah said it is where the chaos started. 

For whatever he been through after Hannah’s death is the consequences of what he did and started. There is that one scene where he walks by the swimming pool at Bryce’s house and suddenly drops himself into the pool and floating. I think that is the scene where Alex has a breakdown. 

About the actor himself, he is a handsome boy indeed….lol. I like the blond hair on him which make him look like a bad kid. After season 1, he came back with a brown hair which makes him more handsome hahaha…that looks good too. Somehow I wish for Alex would date Hannah instead of Jessica. Because Alex and Hannah could be seen going well too. 

Bryce Walker – Could a person be that sick?

Bryce, I hate you to pieces. He is like this lucky kid born with a wealthy family and somehow twisted and spoiled. I mean he is really sick.  All I want to say this character is that you cannot hide your wrongdoing with just a pair of glasses.

 Kudos to the actor because his acting is impressive because even it is off camera I still hated him. LOL…I’m just kidding. That show how good the acting is. I’m surprised to find out that the actor in real life is a very happy person and cheerful too. A pat on the back to you, mate. 

Clay Jensen—you couldn’t save me.

A little silent moment for this guy. It’s sad and hard. One thing I learned from this character is that be brave enough to tell your feeling for others, don’t wait till when all the chances are taken from you. Till then, there is nothing you can do.

As he himself said he should have stay with Hannah and comfort Hannah at that night. Maybe that will make things different. But he didn’t. I think is because the drama series have made expansion to the storyline and things were different after season 1.

I especially like the confession of him to Hannah on her funeral. Which is one thing the book doesn’t have? It is beautiful and sad at the same time when Hannah walk out of the church door.

Courtney Crimson—you were just so sweet, right? Wrong.

This character is like a kind of people that we will have in our daily life. They are with you when you are having a good time but when you are having a bad time they are nowhere to be found and might even leave some bomb for you.

Deep down they are selfish and they always thought about themselves only. When Hannah only have Courtney as a friend but she turns her back on Hannah when rumors started to go around. 

One script line that I love about this character is “I hate people that are smarter than me but is ok, she is cute.

Justin Foley—you were the beginning of the end.

 Justin, I wished that you could end up with Hannah instead of Jessica. Because both of them look good with each other. Only if you could see through the true nature of Bryce Walker early. Plus he was helpless at the time with his own family problem. 

I liked the fact that Jensen’s decided to take Justin in as their son when he has nowhere to go. I’m just hoping that he will be at Clay side all the time. I also love the interaction between both of them especially when Clay help him to tie the necktie. Another thing, please don’ do drugs anymore.

Tyler Down- -I‘ll never know why you did what you did.

Me too, Tyler. I also don’t understand why you did what you did. Sometimes I feel that the character deserved what he did to Hannah. Sometimes I just feel that he should have stopped what he is doing with his new friend.

This is the character that was 100% different from the plot in the book. I think is the director or the producer idea to decide to change the story so that they can pull the string for season 2 which they did. That makes the drama more reflecting the reality. Here, I want to remind you all that season 2 is under the category of “viewer discretion is recommended.”

There is one scene of this character which I haven’t be able to forget and wasn’t prepared for. Not spoiler policy here XD.

Jessica Davis – You know what you did, don’t you？

I hated Jessica at first because of what she did to Hannah and abandon her. If Jessica hasn’t done that, both of them wouldn’t be so miserable. Hannah wasn't even cared Jessica ended up with Alex, she only cares about the fact that she was left out.

Deep down inside Jessica, she knows what happened that night. She knows that night she wasn’t with Justin. She knew the fact and yet she keeps hanging up with Bryce even Justin was pissed off with her. That’s why I don’t like her being with Justin. Justin was trying to keep her together and hold her still and she still hanging around that jerk. 

I like straight hair look on her though compared to curly hair. I also love the interaction between Jessica and her dad when he found out that her daughter was kissing a boy. That jealousy face hahaha….

Zach Dempsey—did you do it on a dare?

 Zach, you were not a coward at least you know that what your friends doing is wrong and in the end, you do help Clay. The character just wasn’t prepared to stand against his own friends. I love the interaction between him and Alex in season 2. Sometimes I thought there was something going on between you two. 

This character is very cheerful and upbeat and warm-hearted which most of the girls will like. Plus I like the actor himself too. In the drama, I think he still liked Hannah as he did try to talk to Hannah. 

Ryan Shaver- did you try to be cruel or did it just come naturally?

For me, this character is so selfish when he only think of publishing Hannah’s poet. I thought both of them could go along well. But it doesn’t work that way. Even the relationship with Tony. In the last minute, he is not even helping Clay to win the lawsuit. I have nothing to say to this character, just go travel around the world and do as what you said. 

Sheri Holland—how do you live with yourself?

She is the one driving the car drunk and hit the stop sign which caused a death of student which turn out to be Clay’s best friend. Instead of calling the police she ran. After what had happened when she finally surrenders herself to police and admitted that she the one who is responsible.

That might seems brave but still is a bit late. Knowing the fact that she has done something and knowing the Clay still love Hannah, yeah, don’t interrupt with that.

Phew….this post is quite long for me to write. There is so many characters on this show which I can’t list out. But nonetheless, this drama reflects the social reality we are in today. Though some people might not like it the fact can’t be denied.

After watching this, I feel kind of depressed because the story is very heavy and the message is also very intense. Hence, the producer team does offer help to those people that are going through the same problem.

There is news going around saying that there are season 3 coming up. I’m very much anticipated that.
