My Skincare Routine + How i Cleared Up My Congested Pores
Dear all,
It’s been quite a long time since I last posted on my blog.
I think it’s been quite a few years back then. But no worries, today I have
come prepared with this blog post on my skincare routine and how I cleared up
my congested pores.
My skin type is combination with oily t-zone. Ever since I
was young only acne was my concern. But while I was getting older especially
within this year I noticed that my skin started become more texturized with
those little bumps. But still being the carefree person that I am and thinking
that it will go away as time goes by.
I’m always on and off with my skincare which I shouldn’t
have. >.< By the time goes by things got worse, so I literally asking my
friends whether they could suggest a place that I can go to and make this
little evil bumps go away.
So at the end I visited a beauty salon and extract the
little evil bumps out. The beautician say that I should keep moisturizing my
face because my skin is extremely dry inside which causes excess sebum oil
secretion which then clogged up my pores.

Look at my texturized skin |
So there you go my skin background story…..
Regardless whether I wear any sort of makeup I always make
sure to clean my face using Garnier
Micellar Cleansing Water. This product had been rave by a lot of
youtubers and bloggers. Many said that this is an alternative dupe for the Bioderma
Sensibio H2O. It
is praised for its power to remove makeup even the waterproof mascara with
lower price range.
I have use the blue bottle version that is meant for oily
& acne prone skin. The feeling for using this version is that it mattifies
your skin like all the excess oil is being soak up and evaporate into the air.
As for the pink bottle it is meant for sensitive skin, it doesn’t have any
visible reaction. I think that’s why this is meant for sensitive skin.
Although it say no need to rinse off but I still continue my
routine with my facial foam cleanser. I
used Etude House Baking Powder Pore
Cleansing Foam. The reason why I choose this as my cleanser is that
I have heard a lot of good thing about baking soda in removing blackhead and
whitehead. Therefore, I decided I should give this a try. The first time using
it I instantly feels that baking soda is “frying” out on the surface of my
skin. Like it was bubbling inside my pores trying to get the dirts out. (If
that make senses)
Next,
Toner…
Depending on my mood I will either do both of the steps or I
will do either one. After I cleaned my face I would use Avene Eau Thermale Spring Water mist to spray my face then I
would put a few drop of Doterra Tea
Tree Oil Pure Essential Oil and pat in on my face. After a few
seconds the burning sensation occurs. I have heard the tea tree oil could help
fight against acnes and blemishes.
Just make sure to spray a lot of the mist before applying
the tea tree oil. As by applying this pure tea tree oil will dry out your skin
remember to moisturize and moisturize your skin in the next few steps of your
skincare. I’m only doing this routine once in a while as it may be too harsh on
my skin. I waited the burning sensation to go away naturally before moving on
to the next step.
I usually used Etude House
Wonder Pore Freshner as my day to day toner. This product also rave
by a lot of youtubers and bloggers for its ability to make most of the
blackhead disappear by using the product on daily basis. I used up one bottle
before and in the process I noticed I did not need to extract any blackhead
myself because there are none. It feels my skin is refreshed and clean
therefore I continued use it as my toner with my 2nd purchase.
Next,
essence…
In terms of essence, I used Missha Time Revolution The First Treatment Essence Intensive Moist.
This is the 3rd edition as they have renew it. As compared to the
first edition that I have used before, this edition is much more moisturizing.
Missha also advertise this product as the perfect dupe for the all time holy
grail product SK-II facial Treatment
Essence. As SK-II has their patent on their famous ingredient which
called Pitera, Missha claims that they had found an ingredient that are similar
called Niacinamide.
Niacinamide also known as vitamin B3 and nicotinic acid had been a famous ingredient
to add to the skincare lately. Niacinamide has the similarities to Vitamin C as
it also claims to brighten up your skin tone without having worry for the heat
and light that can cause the reverse effect. Another add on benefit for the
niacinamide is that it also help in anti-aging department and it also help in
minimize the enlarged pores. Hence I think this is my holy grail and staple
product and I will definitely recommended it to everyone else. (psst….i have
make my 3rd time purchase of this product recently)
Next,
Serum…
I choose to use 2 different type of serum at the same time
as both of the product have different consistency. First, I used Cosrx BHA Summer Pore Minish Serum. This serum
has the white residue powder like ingredient sank in the bottom. You are
supposed to shake the bottle before using it. In terms of my feeling on using
this product, it dry up quite quickly.
Notice how I say dry up instead of absorbed. From the moment
I pump the product onto my hands I could feel the product started to evaporate.
After I checked I realize that alcohol is the second ingredient for this
product as it is categorized as astringent serum in removing the excess oil. The
white powder thing does help in adsorbing the oil on my t-zone.
It does visibly minimize the pores but still after I finish
one whole bottle my pores are still visible. Maybe it is the way that I used it
or maybe I should use this product in coherent with other active product.
After that I continued my routine with Skin & Lab Dr. Color Effect Red Serum. The every first
time that I used the product it does cause my under chin to break out like all
of the sudden the pores are getting congested. I have stop using this product
for a little while but eventually I still pick it up. Ever since then my skin
start to love this serum.
This product claims that it can helps to promote healthier
skin turn over cycle to fight the free radicals and environmental damage with
its famous ingredient called phyto red complex. The reason I used this as my
second serum is that it is highly concentrated serum and also because it feels
like this is an oil based serum. My advice in using this product is that to
never use more than 4 drops as suggested on the packaging because it will be
too extra and started clogged up your pores.
It is rave about on the internet for it’s the perfect dupe
for Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair
Serum. I did notice that my
skin are fully moisturize after I applied the product like the skin has drank a
full glass of H2O. I also noticed that my congested pores had start to
disappear and reduce the chance of having the little bumps to get back to me
again. This product also help in the anti-aging department too. This will also
be my holy grail serum. (psstt…I also make my 2nd purchase for this
product.)
Next,
Moisturizer..
As for my moisturizer I used Nature Republic Aloe Vera 92% Soothing Gel. Needless for me to
brag about how this product are awesome. It is also recommended by my
beautician that I should moisturize my skin with gel type moisturizer hence I choose
this glorious product. Sometimes if I am lazy with all my skincare product I would
put a thick layer on my face as a sleeping mask. Remember to not put too much
on as it will make you skin feels sticky and sometimes with a white peel off
thingy if you happened to rub your face. According to one of the article that I
read this product contains sugar in it hence the stickiness feeling if you applied
too much.
For when I have really dry out skin I will apply a little
bit of this cream to my whole face. As if I were to apply more than certain
amount my face will become too oily and sometimes might lead to break out. I
have watched one video on youtube saying that this is used by the German grandma
to moisturize their face daily and that’s why they have such good skin. Remember
to always buy the one that is made in Germany instead of Mexico as rumor said
that the Germany one is much more than the Mexico. There are also rumors saying
that the German version of Nivea Crème is identical to Creme De La Mer.
Next,
intense care…
Next up depending on my mood I will continue my routine with
Skin & Lab Dr Spot Clear Don’t
Worry Wrinkle or Petitfee
Black Pearl & Gold Hydrogel Eye Patch. The Skin & Lab one is
GWP when I bought my red serum in one set. So far I have felt nothing after
using this except it is absorb into the skin quite quickly and moisturizing at
the same time. I still have no any crow feet wrinkle around my eyes are just
yet. But I think that I should start considering skincare for eyes area.
If I feels that my eyes area quite drying I will put on the hydrogel
eye patch and go to bed with it. By the
time I woke up my eyes are plump up and the eye patch have shrink. For the
first few minute I put it on I can feel the tingling sensation or mild burning
sensation which is bearable thinking that it is due to dehydration I just leave
it on. There are no any other sensitive reaction to this product maybe it just
that my eyes area are too desperate for H2O.
Next,
Sunscreen,
I used Smart Athlete
Broad spectrum Dry Touch Sunscreen Lotion SPF 50+ as my sunscreen.
Remember to always to apply sunscreen before you are out of the door. I like
this sunscreen very much as it comes with 200ml which is a lot of amount. It
claims to help with the UVA/UVB protection but I see no PA ranking on the
bottle. As the rank of the PA is important in order to make sure that I don’t
get tan under the sun. The consistency feels like you are applying lotion onto
your face.
I was wonder if this is meant for body or face but I still
apply it on my face anyway. The good thing is that it doesn’t have any white
cast which is great for makeup. It does feels sticky and greasy the moment you
applied it but give it a few minute it will dry up and feels nothing at all.
Onto how I clear
up my congested pores…
After I went to the beauty salon and ask the beautician to
extract the oil seed out of my pores she told me that these little evil guys
will eventually come back again but without that much of seriousness. Hence she
told me to always to moisturize and moisturize my face. I think the main cause
for these congested pores are the habit of touching my face throughout the day.
So remember to not touch your face with hands when you are out and about.
After I came back the condition have cool down a bit and I let
my skin to naturally heal before I could do anything to prevent the congestion.
After I researched a bit about Korean 10 Steps skincare I decided to add
exfoliating to my daily skincare routine. I used a mild exfoliator with
smallest beads on daily basis thinking that by doing this it could help to
remove all the dead skin cells and hence prevent any oil to build up under the
dead skin cells.
With consistent practice of exfoliating my skin the
condition had turn better. I no longer need to extract my pores for the oil
seed and my skin has become smooth. But bear in mind that you should use a mild
exfoliator to do this and remember to moisturize you face after this. Because
by doing this it could irritates your skin.
And currently I am still in search on a mild exfoliator to
use as my current one is almost running up. But I do get my hand on the Skinfood Black Sugar Mask as I heard that
it is the holy grail product on exfoliating department. But I do interested to
try out the chemical exfoliating product or exfoliating product with salicylic
acid in it.
With that, I will leave you here as this is a very long
blog. ;)
Leave comment down below for any exfoliating product that
you have tried out before?
See you, xxoo
